Acne & Pimples

A deep dive into the Ayurvedic perspective of 'Yuvana Pidaka'—understanding blood purification, hormonal balance, and the path to clear skin.

What is Acne?

Acne is a common skin condition that develops when hair follicles (pores) become blocked with excess oil (sebum), dead skin cells, and bacteria. This blockage leads to inflammation and causes different types of skin lesions such as pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and sometimes painful red bumps or cysts.

In Ayurveda, it most often signifies an imbalance in the Pitta Dosha and impurities in the Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue). It appears on the face, chest, back, and neck, most commonly during teenage years but often persisting into adulthood.

Acne Symptoms Overview

Why Does Acne Occur?

Internal and external factors that trigger inflammation.

Poor Digestion

Improper digestion leads to toxin (Ama) buildup, which is pushed out through the skin, reflecting as acne.

Hormonal Imbalance

Fluctuations in hormones increase sebum production, making skin highly prone to bacterial breakouts.

Stress Levels

High stress triggers hormonal changes that directly stimulate oil glands and worsen inflammation.

Wrong Habits

Frequent intake of oily, spicy, or junk food affects blood quality and triggers recurring flare-ups.

What To Do

Managing acne requires a combination of proper skin care, healthy lifestyle habits, and internal balance. Following these steps can prevent future flare-ups.

Keep your skin clean

Wash your face gently twice a day to remove excess oil and dirt without being harsh.

Follow a healthy diet

Eat fresh fruits, vegetables, and light meals while strictly avoiding oily and junk food.

Stay Hydrated

Drink enough water to support skin detoxification and clear toxins from the liver.

Habits to Avoid

What To Avoid

Do not touch or pick pimples

This increases inflammation and leads to permanent scars or deep dark spots.

Avoid harsh skincare products

Strong chemical soaps and scrubs irritate the skin and trigger even more breakouts.

Avoid pore-clogging cosmetics

Using heavy makeup or non-suitable oils blocks the pores and traps bacteria inside.

Do not wash too often

Over-cleansing dries the skin, signaling glands to produce even more excess sebum.
